Large-class pump selection: K3V180DT, K5V200DTH and K5V200SH

Above roughly 34 t the machines split into two families: the K3V180 / K5V160 line and the K5V200 line. They look similar on the machine, and the nameplate is the only reliable way to tell them apart. This page puts the catalogue figures side by side and states what decides the order.

How the three differ in practice

K3V180DT

Tandem pump for the 36-40 t class. 1120 N·m maximum input torque and a 294 N·m PTO take-off, which is what allows a pilot or auxiliary pump behind it. Used on machines such as SANY SY375, Volvo EC360/EC380, Doosan DH370 and Komatsu PC400.

K5V200DTH

The larger tandem class for 40-50 t. Same 1120 N·m torque ceiling but higher displacement per pump, so it moves more oil at the same engine speed. Confirm speed limit against the machine specification - the larger class is not always rated to the same maximum.

K5V200SH

The single-pump variant, rated 2200 min-1 with the same 1120 N·m torque capacity. Used where the machine needs one high-displacement circuit plus an auxiliary pump rather than two main circuits.

What to confirm before ordering

  1. The control suffix on the unit nameplate - DTH, DT, DTP and SH carry different regulators
  2. Whether the machine takes a tandem or a single pump: count the main outlets
  3. Shaft and flange, which differ between the K3V and K5V lines
  4. Whether a PTO-driven auxiliary pump sits behind the main pump

The most expensive mistake in this class

Fitting a K5V200DTH where the machine was designed for K3V180DT (or the reverse) changes flow, and with it cycle times, oil temperature and the load on the control valve. It usually runs - which is why the mistake survives the first week and shows up as overheating and premature wear later. Send the unit plate photo and we confirm the family, displacement and regulator in writing before dispatch.
